This morning we slept in a little bit. we did not have to be to anywheres until 11 so we did not try to do anything before hand. at 11 we went to bricklane. it is the poorer part of town, it is called brick lane because in older days it was where the bricks for the city were made, and it was kinda outside of town. It was out of town so in case the brick making process where to cause a fire it would not burn down the whole city, which was not uncommon, and had happened before. In brick lane currently is mainly the Bangladesh community. It is still a poorer part of town. While we were in bricklane we saw many street markers and other old "projects" (housing). We were treated to dinner today at a Tayyabs. "Specialising in traditional Punjabi dishes from Pakistan. Try the succulently marinated chicken and lamb grills, mouth-watering karrahi dishes and fluffy naan breads for an unforgettable culinary experience." that is off a little hand out that they had. it was very different eating. we were given this like sampler brunch type dinner. it was like a buffet but we did not have to go get our own food, it was brought to us. we had lamb ribs, lamb kabobs, spicy chicken, rice, like sweet potato's, some other type of chicken, flat bread, some mango sauce, a spicy sauce, another white sauce, and i don't remember what else. there was a lot of food. and for the most part it was really good. i was stuffed when i left.
After we left dinner, a few of us went back and looked through some of the markets. did not buy anything but just looked. there was some cheap stuff there thought. after the markets we came back to the room Wendy was getting tired and Rachel was not feeling good. she ended up having an allergic reaction to the food, she cannot have peanuts so there must have been peanut oil or something in the food. she if fine now. but several people took naps and just relaxed. i did the same.
at 6 we went over to a store that was having a huge sales on everything in the store. The store was called Lillywhites. it kinda reminds me of Scheelds. but i found a few things for only a couple pounds. after that we went to pub called The Grenadier. it is a really old and small pub here. there is a story behind the neighborhood that it is in.
This neighborhood is around this Y shaped road. originally on the inside of the Y was a really rich and Fancy place to live. then on the backside of all the housed were these little shacks where the servants lived. well over the years. these little shacks started to get famous for some reason. now, if one of these places goes for sail it will cost you over 2.5 million pounds to buy one of these little places. and what use to be the rich part will only go for 1 million pounds, which is still a lot but the houses are twice as big, so, its kinda crazy. it was a quiet neighborhood and were different from other places that i have been in, it was nice.
Anyways, this pub was where Madonna had her wedding reception. it was a nice place but it was really small, and it was crowded for being a Thursday night. after the pub i came back here to the room and that's where i have been sense.
That was my day. i hope i feel better soon, willing to bet i get worse before i get better. oh well i will survive. Everyone there at home stay warm, and hope you survive this crap of weather that you have there at home.
